Rukungiri NRM Youth Leaders Endorse President Museveni and Minister Jim for 2026 Elections.

Rukungiri: Rukungiri District NRM youth leaders under their umbrella body, the Rujumbura NRM Youth Network, have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Minister of Security, Rtd Maj. Gen. Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, to contest in the 2026 general elections.

The youth leaders announced their endorsement during a press conference held at Rukungiri Inn Hotel in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality on July 5.

They endorsed President Museveni for the presidency and Minister Jim Muhwezi, who also serves as the Rujumbura County Member of Parliament, to seek re-election for the Rujumbura County parliamentary seat.

Speaking to the press, Levi Tukundane, the Rukungiri District NRM Youth Coordinator, said they made the decision in appreciation of the support both leaders have given to the youth in the district.

Tukundane called upon all youth in Rukungiri to rally behind President Museveni and Minister Muhwezi, saying the two leaders have played a key role in supporting development and stability in Uganda.

Other youth leaders, including Amon Nayebare, the NRM Youth League Chairperson for Nyakagyeme Sub-county; Dorothy Amutuheire, the Vice Chairperson from Rwerere Town Council; and Daphne Natukwasa Twesigye from Ruhinda Sub-county, also expressed their support.

They praised the NRM government for youth-centered programs such as the Youth Livelihood Program, the Parish Development Model, and support in areas like sports and education.
