Rukungiri Municipality Launches UGX 60 Million Health Projects
Rukungiri: Rukungiri Municipal Council has launched the construction of two important projects under the Health Department to improve public health services and environmental management.
The projects include the construction of a 250-meter perimeter fence at the Ruhega Garbage Dumping Site. This work is being carried out by Isheba Contractors Limited at a cost of UGX 30,571,086.
The Municipality also launched the first phase of fencing at Rukungiri Health Centre IV, covering 220 meters at a cost of UGX 29,977,900.
The launch ceremony was led by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongom on March 31. It was attended by the Deputy Town Clerk, Deputy Mayor, Principal Medical Officer, Heads of Departments, and other political leaders.
While speaking at Rukungiri Health Centre IV, Ahimbisibwe stressed the need for proper monitoring of government projects. He said leaders and technical staff must regularly visit project sites and stay involved to ensure work is done well. He also advised contractors to carefully study the Bills of Quantities before starting work and urged all stakeholders to work with commitment, honesty, and patriotism.
The Deputy Town Clerk, Justus Ampeire, called for continuous monitoring of the projects from start to completion to ensure quality work and proper use of public funds. He also encouraged teamwork and the involvement of local leaders and community members to promote transparency and ownership.
Senior Engineer Nuwamanya Hangson advised stakeholders to control costs, maintain good working relationships, and hold regular site meetings to track progress and solve challenges early.
