Rukungiri Municipality Disburses UGX 70 Million to PWDs and Youth Groups
Rukungiri: Rukungiri Municipality has disbursed UGX 70 million to 10 groups of People with Disabilities (PWDs) and 3 youth groups within the municipality.
The disbursement exercise was held at the Rukungiri Municipal Council Hall on September 25. The Principal Community Development Officer, John Bosco Twesigomwe, explained that each of the 10 PWD groups, with 5–6 members each, received UGX 5 million, totaling UGX 50 million. Three youth groups, one from each division, shared UGX 20 million under the Youth Livelihood Program.
Twesigomwe noted that the funds given to PWDs are non-refundable, while youth livelihood funds must be refunded within 3 to 6 months. He urged beneficiaries to use the money for productive projects and avoid diverting it.

Rukungiri Municipality Mayor, Charles Makuru, cautioned women against multiple borrowing and taking loans without informing their spouses, warning that such practices often lead to domestic violence.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Medard Byomuhangi from Nyamayenje, Rosette Kesasi from Marumba, and John Mukura from Ndorero, thanked the government for the support. They said they plan to invest the funds in animal rearing, poultry, and other income-generating activities.
