Rukungiri Municipal Council Launches UGX 27M Kagogo Slaughter Slab Renovation Project

Rukungiri: The leadership of Rukungiri Municipal Council has launched a UGX 27 million renovation project for the Kagogo slaughter slab located in Kagarama A Cell, Northern A Ward, Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

The ceremony was held at Western division headquarters and was presided over by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukungiri District Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongom. During his address, he issued a stern warning to Ngabi Contractors, urging them to avoid shoddy work and ensure value for money.

Ahimbisibwe assured the contractors that he would personally inspect the renovation site to monitor the progress and urged municipal councilors to closely supervise the work to guarantee the expected quality.

The Municipal Council Engineer Hangson Nuwamanya, revealed that the contractor in charge is Ngabi who is the Managing Director of Ngabi Constructors Limited. He noted that the renovation is expected to take two months, although it started behind schedule it was originally set to begin on March 13, 2025.

Nuwamanya urged the contractor to work with speed without compromising quality. He also advised contractors to be trustworthy and deliver work that satisfies stakeholders and beneficiaries to maintain public trust. He discouraged surprise inspections by individuals, suggesting that joint monitoring and site meetings are more effective.

The Deputy Town Clerk Paul Karenzi, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between his office and the contractors. He encouraged all stakeholders to give their best in the renovation project.

Karenzi also commended the Eastern Division team for taking the initiative to renovate the slaughter slab, noting that it was a much-needed service for the community. He promised that similar projects would be extended to other divisions within the municipality.
