Rukungiri LC5 Aspirant Angello Twinomuhangi Speaks Out After Surviving Assassination Attempt

Rukungiri: The Rukungiri District LC5 aspirant, Angello Twinomuhangi, has spoken out after narrowly surviving an assassination attempt by unknown assailants who tied him up and dumped him near Mineera River.

Speaking to our news reporter who visited him today January 8, at Karoli Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale, where he is currently admitted, Twinomuhangi narrated how God saved his life during the deadly attack.

Twinomuhangi explained that the incident occurred on Tuesday, January 6, at around 8:10pm in Kahooko, Nyakyishenyi Sub-county. He was returning from Katonya, where he had been meeting his voters, when he encountered a vehicle parked in the road, pretending to have broken down. For security reasons and ongoing police investigations, the vehicle’s details have not been disclosed.

He says a man standing near the vehicle asked him to help push it off the road. As Twinomuhangi lowered his car window to respond, another motorcycle arrived from behind, and the man immediately sprayed him with chemicals.

Two other men who had been inside the vehicle then pulled him out of his driver’s seat and forced him into the back seat of the same car. He was seated between two men while another drove the vehicle away.

When he attempted to raise an alarm, the assailants tied his hands behind his back and covered his mouth using a USB cable. They pressed their knees against his neck and back until he lost consciousness, and his tongue came out.

Twinomuhangi further revealed that he heard the attackers discussing cutting off his tongue, but one of them said he had forgotten the knife in another vehicle.

Later, the assailants agreed to dump him near Mineera River, which separates Kebisoni and Nyarushanje Sub-counties. Along the way, they encountered two boda boda riders heading towards Nyarushanje. Believing Twinomuhangi was already dead, they dumped him near the bridge and left on the Bodaboda which was following them.
