Rukungiri District Distributes 22,500kgs of Fertilizer to 365 Coffee Farmers

Rukungiri: Rukungiri District has distributed 22,500 kilograms of fertilizer to 365 coffee farmers across the district.

The distribution took place on October 23, at the district headquarters and targeted farmers who had stamped their old, unproductive coffee trees.

The exercise was officially launched by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongom, alongside the District LCV Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama and Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Hillary Agaba.

Speaking to our reporter, the District Production Officer, Oneck Pius, said the fertilizers were provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAIIF) to support coffee farmers in improving both the quality and quantity of their yields.

He noted that beneficiaries were selected from all sub-counties of Rukungiri District, with priority given to farmers who had replaced old coffee trees. Pius also urged the farmers not to sell the fertilizers but to use them properly for their intended purpose.
