Poor Road Network irks Residents in Rubanda
Rubanda: Residents along the Ruhonmwa-Kabadama-Nyamazizi road are expressing frustration with the Rubanda district authorities, accusing them of delaying to repair the road damaged by floods at the end of August this year.
The discontent came on sunday in Kigarama village, Ruhonwa parish, during the distribution of mattresses among members of the Jogo foundation, Kigarama branch.
Kyomukama Beatrice and Vincent Mukeine, both residents of Kigarama village, and Barnabas Adyatuzora from Kigarama village in Ruhonwa parish, Hamurwa sub-county, said the recent floods had severely damaged the road at a single location in Nyamazizi village.
They emphasized that this disruption is adversely impacting the transportation of agricultural produce to markets and hindering people’s access to essential social services.
Furthermore, they accuse the district leaders of neglecting to address and repair the specific section of the road that has collapsed, preventing users from utilizing the entire route.
Pierre Mbabazi Nyetegyereize, the Hamurwa sub-county LCV councilor, attributed the delayed repairs to the district’s top leaders, alleging that their self-serving political interests are impeding prompt action. He disclosed that he has repeatedly brought the road’s sorry sate to the attention of the district leaders, only to be met with indifference.
Efforts to get comments from the District Engineer, Denis Twesigomwe, and Rubanda District LCV chairperson, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, were futile, after our reporter’s repeated calls went unanswered.
