Over 70 people participate in Rukungiri cancer run
Rukungiri: Over 70 people on Sunday August 25, 2024 participated in the Rukungiri district cancer run organized by Rotary club, Rukungiri branch.
The participants, who started their running journey at Rukungiri Inn Hotel, passed at Rukungiri district headquarters to Karegyesa Road, proceeding, to go-down street, before concluding in Rukungiri Main Stadium.
Saul Katazahansi, the head of organizing committee in Rukungiri central, told our reporter that this program, which began 13 years ago, aimed at raising funds to construct a specialized hospital for cancer patients at Nsambya Hospital.
Participants including Talent Gumoshabe and Angle Akampa revealed that they participated in this activity to support those suffering from cancer in Uganda.
They also noted that such activities help them to stay fit and healthy.
This year’s cancer run was held under the theme “Service Above Self”.
Rotary clubs across the country held similar events in their respective districts, with the main function taking place at Kololo ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
