Ntungamo district passes UShs 76.134 billion budget.
Ntungamo: Ntungamo district council on Tuesday May 28, 2024 passed a Ushs 76.134 billion budget for the financial year 2024/2025.
The District chairperson Mr Samuel Mucunguzi Rwakigoba while addressing the district council noted that whereas the budget figures were improving and increasing every day, the reducing local revenue collection was failing performance of key local sectors with much of the money sent from the central government tagged to different activities.
The central government was expected to contribute UShs 82.463 billion and Ushs 65.755 billion had been realized by the 3rd quarter averaging 75.3% performance.
The district never received development grants in the first quarter and road fund in the 2nd quarter which Mucunguzi noted was a great setback in budget performance.
He said the expectation was thus toned down from Ushs 85.653 billion to 76.134 billion because of the expected shortfalls and indicative planning figures gotten from the ministry of finance.
The council also passed a revenue enhancement plan with a charging policy for various market commodities.
The district council was however concerned with reducing service deliver performance despite the growth of the budget figures over years.
The council set priorities for construction of classroom infrastructure, rehabilitation of roads, markets development, salaries of civil servants, health infrastructure and staff recruitment.
