NRM Flag Bearer Mathias Rwabugumi Nominated for Rubabo County Parliamentary Seat

Rukungiri: The NRM flag bearer for Rubabo County, Mathias Mwesirwa Rwabugumi, has officially been nominated to as Member of Parliament for Rubabo County in Rukungiri District. 

Rwabugumi’s nomination, which took place on October 23, at the Rukungiri District Council Hall, was followed by a massive procession of enthusiastic supporters. The procession started from the district headquarters and moved through several areas, including Buyanja Town Council, Buyanja Sub-county, Kebisoni Town Council, and Bwanga Trading Centre, before concluding at his home in Nyarushoko Cell, Bwanga Parish, Nyarushanje Sub-county. 

Thousands of supporters turned up to show solidarity, chanting slogans and pledging their support for Rwabugumi’s re-election bid ahead of the upcoming general elections. 

Addressing the crowd, Rwabugumi urged residents to vote for capable and development-oriented leaders who are committed to transforming Rubabo County. He emphasized the need to improve public services such as clean water supply, education, healthcare, and road infrastructure. 

“Our people deserve leaders who are tested, trusted, and focused on development. I urge voters to elect leaders based on their track record and commitment to service delivery,” Rwabugumi said. 

He also promised to address the challenge of unemployment, particularly among the youth in Rukungiri District, and to advocate for better pay for teachers, noting that many learners are currently out of school due to the ongoing arts teachers’ strike.

Speaking at the same event, Rukungiri District LC5 Chairperson Geoffrey Kyomukama urged parents to invest in their children’s education, stressing that education is the key to development. He also encouraged residents to elect leaders who understand and prioritize the real challenges faced by their local communities.
