NDA urges Herbalists to follow laws.

Bushenyi: Herbalists and traditional healers have been urged to follow the right procedures and laws that govern their operations. 

The call was made by the Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner Robert Atuhairwe on Tuesday August 6, 2024 while opening a one day stakeholders engagement meeting of traditional herbalists and doctors in  Bushenyi that was organized by National Drugs authority (NDA) at Jamugi Hotel in Bushenyi. 

He said Bushenyi is one the fertile grounds of traditional medicine and it’s proudent that all dealers under this practice are regulated.

Jamir Mukwaya Lutakome, the president of Uganda  Herbalists Association said the engagement aimed at inducting traditional healers in building their capacities, as well as manufacture products which are safe and convenient for human life. 

Kenneth Kiiza the western Uganda NDA regional manager , said herbalists have been take through the prerequisites for their work. 

He furhther revealed that they sensitized herbalists on their advertising methods highlighting that adverts should be vetted by National Drugs authority which is the National regulatory body.
