Mbarara Campus Triumphs in Metropolitan International University Inter-Campus Tournament
Mbarara: Metropolitan International University (MIU) Mbarara Campus has emerged as the overall winner of the first-ever inter-campus tournament organized by the university. The tournament, which included campuses from Kisoro (the main campus), Mbarara, and Kampala, was held on October 12, 2024 at Bihagwe Playground in Mbarara City North, hosted by the Mbarara Campus.
Students competed in various sports, including football and volleyball for both boys and girls, as well as netball for girls. In the boys’ football finals, Mbarara Campus defeated Kisoro Main Campus by a single goal. The girls’ football final ended in a 0-0 draw, but Mbarara Campus secured victory over Kisoro in a penalty shootout, winning 3-2.
Mbarara Campus continued their dominance by winning both the volleyball and netball competitions, ultimately being crowned the overall champions of the tournament. Kisoro Main Campus finished second, while Kampala Campus took third place.
The team captain for MIU Mbarara Campus Steven Muliisa, expressed his delight in their success, noting that the team had prepared thoroughly for the tournament. He also urged the university administration to increase its support for sports, with hopes that MIU can participate in the Uganda Inter-University League in the future.
