Man Bites Wife’s Ear and Breasts in Rukungiri District.

Rukungiri: A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged in Nyakishenyi Sub-county, Rukungiri District, where a man reportedly bit off his wife’s ear and breasts during a violent altercation.

The incident was revealed by Wednesday Twinomujuni, the LCIII Chairperson of Nyakishenyi Sub-county, who shared the news on various social media platforms, accompanied by photos of the injured woman on October 14, 2024. The couple involved Gilbert, the son of Baganda from Rwangura Cell in Katonya Parish, and his wife who reside in Kisya Trading Centre.

According to Twinomujuni, the couple has been frequently involved in domestic disputes. He explained that some men, after marriage, continue to engage in bad peer groups, playing cards, taking drugs, and neglecting their responsibilities. This behavior, he noted, leaves women to handle all household duties such as washing clothes, digging, cooking, and caring for the children, which has contributed to the rise in domestic violence.

Twinomujuni further revealed that Gilbert had been physically abusing his wife for some time. Disturbingly, it is also alleged that Gilbert’s brother killed his wife in a previous incident by inserting a piece of wood into her private parts, leading to her immediate death.

In this latest incident, Gilbert reportedly attacked his wife, biting off parts of her ear and breasts, and knocking out some of her teeth. After the attack, the woman reported the matter to Twinomujuni, who referred her to the police. Meanwhile, locals attempted to apprehend Gilbert, but he fled the scene. Residents are now concerned that he may escalate his violence and kill his wife.

Twinomujuni has called on local leaders and authorities to unite in addressing such criminal behavior and ensuring that these dangerous individuals are removed from their communities.

More details about this story will be shared in our upcoming publications.
