
Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Launches Construction of Kakindo Bridge in Bugangari Sub-county
Rukungiri: Residents of Bugangari Sub-county have been urged to take advantage of government programs to improve their livelihoods.
The call was made on September 18, by the Minister of Security and NRM Chairman for Rukungiri District Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi, while launching the construction of Kakindo Bridge in Bugangari Sub-county, Rujumbura Constituency.
Maj. Gen. Muhwezi encouraged residents to embrace programs such as the Parish Development Model to boost their incomes. He explained that Kakindo Bridge is a key project that will improve transport and ease access to markets, schools, and health facilities, thereby enhancing economic opportunities.
He noted that the bridge will make the transportation of goods and people easier, creating a direct impact on the community’s development.
The project, valued at 500 million shillings, is expected to be completed in one week and will be constructed by ChiCo Company.

The LC3 Flag Bearer of Bugangari Sub-county, Innocent Turyahabwe, also known as Kayino, thanked Maj. Gen. Muhwezi for delivering the bridge. He said residents have long faced challenges in transporting goods and people, and expressed optimism that the new bridge will boost economic activity in the area.
