
Kyabugashe High School Celebrates Third Consecutive District Championship Victory
Rukungiri: Kyabugashe High School is celebrating a major sports milestone after winning the district championship for the third consecutive time.
The celebrations took place on July 18, at the school playground in Nyakagyeme Sub County. The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association at the Rukungiri district level last term declared the school as champions in boys’ and girls’ football.
During the event, several friendly matches were played. The boys’ match between the current students and old boys ended in a 0-0 draw. The girls’ match, featuring current students and old girls, also ended in a goalless draw.
The school’s head teacher, Alvas Arinaitwe, highlighted the recent achievements of both the boys’ and girls’ football teams. He explained that the girls’ team secured a 2-0 victory against St. Jerome High School in the finals, while the boys’ team narrowly defeated St. Jerome 1-0 to clinch the title. This marks the third consecutive year that both teams have won the district championship.

The games teacher, Elias Musinguzi, thanked both current and former students for maintaining discipline, which he said contributed to the school’s consistent victories. He emphasized the importance of supporting students’ talents and passions, noting that many have performed well and earned bursaries for university education.
The Speaker of Nyakagyeme Sub County, Obed Mwesigwa Mayaja, urged students to focus on education, describing it as the greatest equalizer in society. He encouraged teamwork among students and called on both the school administration and learners to aim for excellent academic results.
Guest of honor, Innocent Akatwijuka Tibosire, called on former students to remain disciplined wherever they are in the community and urged parents to support their children with basic needs.
