Kisizi Residents decry water scarcity.
Rukungiri: Residents of Kisiizi parish in Nyarushanje sub-county, Rukungiri district have decried the scarcity of clean water in their area.
They say persistent consumption of dirty water has posed a great danger of contracting waterborne diseases such as typhoid, diarrhea and dysentery to their lives.
Residents accuse leaders at the district level of failing on their priorities to the extent of failing to pass the district budget for the financial year 2024-2025.

In response to the locals’ complaints, the Nyarushanje sub-county chairperson Micheal Musiime blamed the scarcity of water in Kisiizi parish to the government’s failure to release money for the establishment of a new borehole and rehabilitation of the old ones which are currently not functioning.
Musiime revealed that they wrote a letter to the ministry of water in 2018 requesting for funds to improve water services in their area. He said the ministry promised to give them water under Kimbugu-Rwakaraba water project which will supply water in Nyarushanje and Nyakishenyi sub-counties.
He noted that the project is slated to start before this month (June 2024) ends.
