He Was Almost Dead but God Saved Him’ — Rukungiri RDC on Attack Against LC5 Aspirant Angello.
Rukungiri: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukungiri, Bron Kikanshemeza, says that Rukungiri LC5 chairperson aspirant Angello Twinomuhangi is recovering at Karoli Lwanga Hospital Nyakibale after he was allegedly attacked, tied up, and dumped near River Mineera by unknown assailants on Tuesday night.
Addressing the press this morning January 7, at his office at Rukungiri District Headquarters, Kikanshemeza said Twinomuhangi was admitted in critical condition and placed on oxygen after he was found with cloth stuffed in his mouth and tied with USB cables that covered both his nose and mouth, making it difficult for him to breathe. His hands had also been tied behind his back.

The RDC explained that Twinomuhangi was discovered by the head teacher of St. Jerome Ndama Secondary School, Alphonse Byamukama who was traveling from Nyarushanje to Rukungiri town. The head teacher was alerted by a boda boda rider at around 9:30 p.m., who reported seeing a man dumped near River Mineera on the Nyarushanje side.
According to Kikanshemeza, the attackers appeared to have intended to throw Twinomuhangi into the river but likely feared being seen by people coming from Mineera hot springs and instead left him along the Kisiizi–Kebisoni road. He added that the aspirant could not identify the assailants but heard them saying, “Let’s dump him here because he is already dead.”

Kikanshemeza warned the public against hatred and violence, saying life belongs to God alone. He stated that Twinomuhangi was “almost dead,” but God spared his life given the condition in which he was found.

He also cautioned social media users in Rukungiri against mocking or celebrating other people’s suffering, reminding them that death comes to everyone and compassion is necessary.
The RDC confirmed that police have already begun investigations to identify the attackers and establish their motive.
