Gospel Artist Gogo Passes Away in Kampala at 36
National: Beloved gospel musician Gloriose Musabyimana, famously known as Gogo, has passed away in Kampala at the age of 36.
News of her death broke on the morning of September 4, 2025, shocking fans and fellow believers across the region.
The announcement was confirmed by her media and promotions manager, Bikem wa Yesu, who in a heartfelt post wrote: “R.I.P Gogo, what terrible news! God, strengthen my heart.” Bikem had been accompanying her on a tour in Uganda.
Gogo had traveled from Rwanda on August 28, 2025, with her team to minister at a revival event in Mbarara from August 29–31, 2025, before moving on to Kampala for further engagements, including a performance at Pastor Wilson Bugembe’s church.
However, shortly after arriving in Kampala, she suddenly fell ill. At first, her condition was thought to be minor, linked to a pre-existing heart problem. Sadly, her health deteriorated rapidly, and she was rushed to Kyegera Doctors Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Gogo was celebrated for her inspirational music and powerful messages of faith. Her breakthrough hit, “Every Day, I Need Blood of Jesus,” touched millions and remains a timeless anthem of worship. She also released other cherished songs, including “Uwo Mwana.”
Born in 1989 in Rwamagana District, Eastern Province, Rwanda, Gogo was a devoted member of the Anglican Church. Having lost both parents at a young age, she often drew from her life experiences to encourage others through her music.
In one of her most recent messages to fans, she signed off with the words: “Goodbye, I am going.” What many saw as just another uplifting note has now been taken as a heartbreaking farewell.
Gogo leaves behind a powerful legacy of worship, praise, and hope that will continue to inspire generations.
