Feeding children In schools is not the responsibility of Gov’t-RDC Nsubuga tells parents

Rukungiri: The Rukungiri Resident district commissioner Steven Bewayo Nsubuga has asked parents to take the task of paying money for food at schools seriously.

Nsubuga was speaking at the graduation ceremony of Top class students and official closure of third term at Rukungiri preparatory Nursery and primary school in Rushaka cell, Nyabiteete parish, Buyanja sub-county of Rukungiri district.

A total of 20 pupils graduated from top class to primary level during a function held at the school premises.

Nsubuga said some parents have shunned the responsibility of feeding their children because they think it is the role of the government. He however said the government doesn’t provide food to schools and charged parents to pay the money required for buying meals for their children at school.

The school executive director Sabiti Mahirane commended te school staff and parents for working together towards the development of the school. He asked parents to teach their children casual jobs like digging, cooking and milking.

Frank Nabasa, the headteacher of Rukungiri preparatory Nursery and primary school applauded the school directors for realizing their idea of starting the school and highlighted the challenges the school is currently facing including late payment of school fees by some parents.

Among the invited dignitaries who were present at the function include the Buyanja sub-county district councilor Mugisha Albert Rwamugata who spoke on behalf of the parents, the Buyanja sub-county inspector of schools Solomon Arinaitwe among others.
