Embrace the upcoming census-Keledonia Bakironda.
Rukungiri: The Rukungiri district secretary for social services Claire Keledonia Bakironda has appealed to the residents of Rukungiri to embrace the upcoming National population and housing census.
Keledonia was speaking to our reporter shortly after the district advocacy committee for the national population and housing census at the district headquarters on Monday May 6, 2024.
She told our reporter who had visited her office that census is important to both the government and citizens since it acts as the basis for planning.
Keledonia who is also eyeing the Rukungiri district Woman MP seat in 2026 urged members of the public not to hide but rather avail the right information to enumerators who will find them in their homes.
The census, slated to run for 10 days from May 10 to May 19, aims to gather crucial information about the country’s population and housing demographics.
The government has declared Friday May 10, a public holiday to enable citizens to fully participate in the sixth National Housing and Population Census.
According to projections by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS), over 47 million people live in Uganda.
