Buyanja SACCO Concludes 3-Day Financial Training in Rukungiri

Rukungiri: Buyanja SACCO has concluded a three-day financial training for its members and well-wishers across its six zones in Rukungiri district.

The training was conducted in Buyanja, Rubanga, Bugangari, Omwirwaniro, Nyabitete, and finally Rukungiri Municipality zone, where the last session was held on September 3, at All Saints Church. Members were trained on financial discipline and other money-related matters.

The chief guest, Adams Bwisho, a consultant from LED, urged the public to always provide accurate information to loan officers when seeking credit from financial institutions. He emphasized three key principles for financial success: acknowledging God, respecting and being disciplined with money (both earned and expected), and knowing how to generate income.

Bwisho explained that money can be earned through four main avenues: agriculture, trade, skills, and talent. He encouraged participants to maintain their money through saving, timely loan repayment, avoiding multiple borrowing, and building their own institutions.

The Buyanja SACCO Board Chairperson, Canon Yosiya Twirire said such trainings are part of the SACCO principles where every member is entitled to education, training, and information. He noted that the sessions help members understand the operations of the SACCO, how to save, use loans effectively, and stay informed about resolutions from the annual general meetings.

The SACCO’s General Manager, Olive Nayebare, encouraged the public to join Buyanja SACCO, saying members benefit through savings and loans. She revealed that new loan products have been introduced, including water and sanitation loans, biogas loans, emergency loans, bodaboda loans (which also cover tuktuks), and Bakyara Muzahura loans targeting women’s groups, among others.
