Bugyera Parish Residents Trained Ahead of Receiving PDM Funds

Rukungiri: In preparation for receiving Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, 100 residents of Bugyera Parish in Buyanja Sub-county, Rukungiri District, who are expected to benefit from the program in the 2025/26 financial year, have held their first training meeting.

The training, organized by the Migyera PDM SACCO committee, was conducted yesterday in Kitojo Central cell. It aimed at preparing beneficiaries to properly use the UGX 100 million allocated to the parish this year in productive projects such as poultry, animal rearing, and crop farming.

According to authorities, the beneficiaries will undergo three training sessions before funds are disbursed to ensure they are well-prepared.

While addressing participants, the Secretary of Bugyera PDM SACCO, Nelson Mugabe Tumwesigye, said the meeting was meant to help the selected beneficiaries learn better agronomic practices and good farming methods, especially for crops like bananas and coffee.

He encouraged members to utilize the upcoming PDM funds responsibly and invest in the projects for which they were selected.

The Buyanja Sub-county Assistant Agricultural Officer, Jennifer Acen, advised members on the importance of record keeping to track income and expenditure in their enterprises. She further emphasized the need for maintaining visitors’ books to record agricultural extension support and encouraged farmers to personally monitor their gardens instead of leaving all the work to laborers.
