
Boda Boda Rider Dies After Crashing Into Potholes on Rubabo Road
Rukungiri: A boda boda rider has died after hitting potholes filled with stagnant water along Rubabo Road in Rukungiri District.
The incident happened on September 22, at around 5:30 am in Kaata Cell, Nyabiteete Parish, Buyanja Sub County. The deceased was identified only as Elidard, a resident of Marumba in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.
According to the councilor for Nyabiteete Parish Charles Karahukayo, who was alerted about the accident by the LC1 Chairperson, said the crash occurred about 10 kilometers from Buhandagazi Trading Centre.
Karahukayo explained that the rider hit potholes, lost control, and fell, hitting his head in another pothole filled with stagnant water left by recent rains. He expressed concern that more people may lose their lives if the road is not repaired.

The LC1 chairperson of Kaata Cell Charles Madidi, said road users discovered the body and the motorcycle early in the morning. He called on Rukungiri District authorities to urgently rehabilitate Rubabo Road.

Boda boda rider Brian Nagaba also urged the government, especially the district leadership, to repair the road network, saying the numerous potholes are putting their lives at great risk.
