Bishop Asiimwe Urges Public to Join North Kigezi Diocese SACCO for Financial Growth 

Rukungiri: The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese in Rukungiri, Rt. Rev. Onesmus Asiimwe, has encouraged the public to join the North Kigezi Diocese SACCO and start saving for a better future.

Speaking as the SACCO’s patron during its Annual General Meeting on February 21, which was held at All Saints Church in Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, Bishop Asiimwe emphasized the importance of financial discipline. 

Quoting Ecclesiastes 10:13, he highlighted that poverty is one of the worst experiences in life and prayed for God’s guidance in strengthening members to work hard for the SACCO’s development. He urged members to save consistently, support the SACCO, and for the board to listen to members’ needs to develop suitable loan products.

Guest of honor Denis Barigye Mishambi stressed the need for SACCO leaders and board members to have integrity and mobilize people on a large scale to achieve the SACCO’s objectives.

Meanwhile, Venerable Dickens Baguma of Nyakisoroza Archdeaconry, who serves as the board chairman, praised Bishop Asiimwe and Mama Florence for their leadership, which has strengthened the SACCO. He called on the committee members to work as a team, remain committed, and be faithful in their duties. 

The Manager of North Kigezi Diocese SACCO Ronald Kasiime, encouraged members to take loans responsibly and ensure timely repayment. He revealed plans to extend SACCO services to rural areas to make financial assistance more accessible. 

However, Kasiime noted challenges such as unreliable power supply, which affects operations, highlighting the need for a backup generator. He also raised concerns about loan defaulters, urging members to honor their commitments to ensure the SACCO’s smooth running.
