Bishop Asiimwe appoints Dr Bitekyerezo and Counsel Isaac Atukunda to lead the new Board of Governors at Kisizi Hospital.

Rukungiri: The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe with the approval of the synod has appointed Dr Madard Bitekyerezo and Counsel Isaac Atukunda to serve as the new Chairperson and vice Chairperson of the Church of Uganda Kisizi Hospital Board of Governors respectively for a term of 4 years.

Their appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the Diocese.

The other Members appointed to the Board include Jolly Mashaija, Canon. Benson Turamye, Patrick Muhangi, Rev. Capt Jallon Atusinguza-the Archdeacon of Rubirizi archdeaconry, Dr Dan Mugisha representing Uganda Medical Bureau, the Rukungiri District Health Officer Dr. Akasiima Mucunguzi, and North Kigezi Diocese Health Coordinator Dr. Edson Masiko.

Speaking to our reporter, Counsel Atukunda, who serves as the deputy Chancellor of North Kigezi Diocese and the former secretary for the Uganda Law Society thanked Bishop Asiimwe and the synod for the trust they have put in the new board and pledged to steer the hospital to greater heights.

We thank our beloved Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe and the synod for putting trust in us, particularly me, to serve in the top leadership of our hospital, Kisizi hospital. We look forward to adding a brick to it’s serving capacity for the good of our people in the North Kigezi Diocese, Kigezi region and Uganda at large”. Said Counsel Atukunda.

The Hospital Board of Governors is mandated by the Church of Uganda Provincial Policy on Health to oversee the overall management and administration of the hospital.

The newly appointed board brings a wide range of experience in management and administration to the hospital that was established in 1958 by missionary John Sharp and was later taken over by the North Kigezi Diocese of the Church of Uganda.
