State House Anti-Corruption Unit to Hear 64 Cases in One-Week Exercise in Rukungiri
Rukungiri: The State House Anti-Corruption Unit is scheduled to begin hearings into 64 cases in Rukungiri District on Thursday, November 12, 2026.
The hearings are expected to run for one working week at the District Council Hall, from 7:00 a.m. to midnight each day. Those whose names appeared on a list read by the unit on October 28 during a visit by the Minister for Local Government, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, are expected to appear and give their statements.
Addressing councillors and district stakeholders on November 4, Rukungiri Chief Administrative Officer Fredrick Byekwaso urged everyone named on the list to attend the hearings and present information in their defence.
Byekwaso stressed that no district official had been formally interdicted or arrested at the time of his remarks. He said the district would wait for the investigation report before taking any action. He also called on leaders to remain united.
