Husband Kills Wife in Kanungu, Later Lynched by Angry Mob

Kanungu: Police in Kanungu District are investigating a double murder incident in which a 20-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband, who was later beaten to death by an angry mob.

The incident occurred on November 2, 2026, in Kakyenke Cell, Bihomborwa Ward, Kihihi Town Council, Kanungu District.

The deceased woman has been identified as Kirabo Doreen, a resident of Kakyenke Cell.

According to police, Kirabo had reportedly visited her sick parents and spent the night at their home. When she returned, her husband, identified as Akandinda Aaron, 25, allegedly picked a domestic quarrel with her before grabbing an axe and striking her on the head, killing her instantly.

Following the incident, an angry mob reportedly pursued Akandinda and assaulted him to death.

Police say no arrests have been made in connection with the mob killing, but efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved.

In a statement dated November 3, 2026, Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime condemned both domestic violence and mob justice.
