Bugangari Primary School Raises UGX 8.2 Million for Construction of Main Hall

Rukungiri: Bugangari Primary School has raised 8.2 million shillings towards the construction of a school main hall during a fundraising drive held at St. Peter’s Bugangari Archdeaconry in Bugangari Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

The fundraising event attracted parents, old boys and old girls, well-wishers and church leaders who joined hands to support the development of the school.

Preaching during the fundraising service on October 23, the Archdeacon of Bugangari Archdeaconry, Rev. Erazimas Barangirana, urged parents and former students to support their former school.

Rev. Barangirana expressed concern that some parents take their children to private schools far from their communities, thereby supporting other schools while neglecting their own local schools.

He called on parents and former students to work together to improve Bugangari Primary School and restore its position in the community.

The headteacher of Bugangari Primary School, Benson Kafureera, thanked the government for granting the school a Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) examination centre, allowing pupils to sit their examinations at the school.

Kafureera said the school had operated for more than 30 years without a UNEB examination centre, describing the achievement as a blessing.

He also thanked parents, old boys and old girls for contributing towards the construction of the main hall.

The chief guest, Pidson Turyamushanga, who is also an old boy of the school, urged parents to stop taking their children to schools far away from their communities when they could enrol them at Bugangari Primary School.

Turyamushanga said enrolling more children at the school would support its growth and contribute to the development of the surrounding community.
