Christians Urged to Abandon Witchcraft and Enmity

Rukungiri: Christians have been urged to avoid witchcraft, hatred, alcoholism and other evil practices, and instead turn to God, repent their sins and prepare for the Kingdom of God while they still have the opportunity.

The call was made on October 8, by the North Kigezi Diocesan Missions Coordinator, Rev. Julius Niwagaba, commonly known as Tengyeta, while preaching during a one-day prayer mission held at Rwerere Playground in Rwerere Town Council.

The prayer mission was organised to pray for the souls of six people from Rwerere Town Council who died in the Ishaka-Kagamba road accident last month, while others were left seriously injured as they travelled from a burial in Bushenyi.

Rev. Niwagaba said many Christians have abandoned the Church and turned to witchcraft, hatred, alcoholism and other evil practices, which he said have left many believers suffering.

Speaking at the same event, the Diocesan Secretary of North Kigezi Diocese, Rev. Munturive Nshabaruhanga, urged residents of Rwerere to continue praying and fasting for the prevention of road accidents in the area.

The Parish Priest of St. Paul’s Rwerere Church of Uganda, Rev. Elias Niwagaba, said the main purpose of the prayer day was to restore hope among families that lost their loved ones in the accident.
