26 Couples Wed as Bishop Asiimwe Urges Love and Respect in Marriage

Rukungiri: The Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, has urged wives to submit to their husbands and husbands to love their wives, just as Christ loved the Church.

Bishop Asiimwe made the remarks on September 20, during a mass wedding for 26 couples at St. Philip’s Nyabugando Church of Uganda in Bugarama Parish, Bwambara Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese.

The mass wedding was the first of its kind in North Kigezi Diocese since Bishop Asiimwe was installed as Bishop.

During his sermon, Bishop Asiimwe encouraged couples who have not yet wedded to make their marriages right by embracing church weddings and seeking God’s blessing.

The Archdeacon of Bwambara Archdeaconry, the Venerable Eldard Twikirize Rukuru, pledged to continue supporting the development of the church.

Representing the newly wedded couples, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Ainembabazi and Mr. and Mrs. Rubarema Dismas Warren who had spent 37 years in marriage before their wedding, said they were happy to finally have their marriage blessed by the Church.

Relatedly, Nyabugando Church of Uganda Sub-Parish in Bwambara Archdeaconry established in 1966 and was on September 20, consecrated to St. Philip’s Nyabugando Church of Uganda.

The consecration service was officiated by the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, and was attended by Christians from Bwambara Archdeaconry and other areas.

In his remarks, Bishop Asiimwe thanked Layreader Samuel Mbahena and Head of Laity Gerald Ndamwesiga Bakyokyo for their efforts towards developing the church and achieving its consecration.

Bishop Asiimwe also urged Christians to keep politics and political affiliations out of the church, calling on them to focus on development in their families and church projects.
