St. Jerome SS Ndama Flags Off Volleyball Team for East African Games in Tanzania
Rukungiri: St. Jerome Secondary School Ndama in Kebisoni Town Council has flagged off a team of 14 volleyball players who will represent Uganda at the East African Secondary Schools Games in Morogoro, Tanzania, scheduled to take place from 11th to 23rd August 2026.
The Rukungiri District Sports Officer, Solomon Arinaitwe, who officiated as the guest of honour on August 6, congratulated the team for their outstanding performance. Arinaitwe said the players had proudly represented their school, Rukungiri District, and the Kigezi Sub-region at the national level, earning the opportunity to compete at the East African Games.

The Headteacher of St. Jerome Secondary School Ndama, Alphonse Byamukama, said the school is committed to providing holistic education by promoting both academic excellence and sports. Byamukama urged the team to remain disciplined, represent both the school and Uganda with pride, and give their best performance.

The Chairperson of the Rukungiri District Sports Committee, Dan Ahimbisibwe, said St. Jerome Secondary School Ndama is the only government-aided school representing Uganda at this year’s East African Games. Ahimbisibwe noted that the school qualified alongside St. Mary’s College Namagunga and Bukedea Comprehensive School after finishing among the top three schools at the national championships.
