The event was attended by headteachers from all the primary schools in the district.

The Rukungiri district Clerk to the Council Tracy Asiimwe who represented the Chief Administrative Officer pledged the district’s continued support for schools to enhance their operations.

The District Education Secretary Caledonia Bakyironda encouraged headteachers to conduct career guidance for Primary Seven learners.

She emphasized that guiding pupils on interpreting and answering questions fosters creativity and better performance.

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), Wilberforce Ahimbisibwe Ongom, who officiated the event, urged teachers to prioritize monitoring learners.

Ongom disputed what he termed as public public misconceptions that poor performance in schools is associated with the low salaries revealing that it is a lame excuse. He says teaching must come before salaries because being a government worker is commitment.

Ahimbisibwe also urged headteachers to report teachers who show up to work intoxicated, as such behavior negatively impacts learners’ discipline and academic progress.
