Wife, Son Kill Husband After He Gifts Land to Daughter-in-Law

Kisoro: Police in Kisoro District have arrested a 50-year-old woman, Dusabe Anonsiata, and launched a manhunt for her son, Richard Iraguha, in connection with the murder of her husband, Joram Hafashimana, 56.

The deceased, a resident of Gancence Cell, Kananira Central Ward, Mupaka Town Council in Kisoro District, was allegedly killed on January 9, 2026, at around 10:30 p.m. at his home.

According to the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, preliminary investigations indicate that Hafashimana was attacked by his wife and son following a domestic dispute. The disagreement reportedly stemmed from the deceased’s decision to gift a piece of land to his daughter-in-law, a move that allegedly angered the suspects.

Police state that the two suspects assaulted Hafashimana, after which the son allegedly picked a panga and inflicted severe cuts. It is further alleged that Dusabe Anonsiata later used the same weapon to fatally injure her husband.
