Welden High School Suffers Narrow Defeat to Kyabugashe in Friendly Match 

Rukungiri: Welden High School from Mbarara District faced a narrow 1-0 defeat against Kyabugashe High School from Rukungiri District in a thrilling friendly match held at Rukungiri Main Stadium on March 9. 

Welden High School recently dominated the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) football championship, winning three major titles: the Mbarara City Zone C Cup, the Mbarara District Championship, and the Ankole Region Championship. 

Head Coach Hassan Gorrola attributed their regional success to playing high-intensity friendly matches. He explained that these games help them prepare for upcoming secondary school football competitions and identify key players who will help defend their treble titles.

On the other hand, Kyabugashe High School’s Assistant Coach, Fahadi Kwiizera, said the friendly match was part of their preparations for the round of 32 in the Rukungiri District Secondary Schools Football Tournament. He expressed optimism about their team’s performance in the competition.
