UCC urges Actors to produce quality films

Rukungiri: Film actors in Rukungiri district have been urged to produce high-quality films if they are to reap big in the film industry.

The call was made on November 18, by the manager Content Development at Uganda Communications commission( UCC ) Ruth Kanyana Kibuuka during a workshop that was held at New Palm Hotel in Rukungiri municipality .Kanyana said UCC aims to uplift the film industry through capacity building and training actors.

She revealed that the communications body has also put the regional film competition with a grand final scheduled for March 2026 where the winners will be prized.

Kanyana tasked the filmmakers to submit their films to Uganda Communications commission by December 31, 2025 for consideration.

The Director of Kigezi Universal Actors Syril Baryabawe highlighted challenges they face in the film industry, including financial struggles, piracy and limited access to equipment.

Baryabawe however commended UCC for supporting the film industry which he said has employed many youths.
