Two Opposition FDC MPs to Attend NRM Caucus Meeting at State House
Kampala: Two opposition-leaning legislators from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have accepted invitations to attend the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Parliamentary caucus, convened by President Yoweri Museveni at State House, Entebbe.
Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua confirmed to Country Radio that the two special guests, though not NRM members, had chosen to associate with the party. They are Hon. Anthony Akol, the MP for Kilak North in Amuru District, and Hon. Emmanuel Ongiertho, the MP for Jonam County in Pakwach District, Northern Uganda.
In a brief interview, Hon. Akol confirmed his attendance, stating that he would use the opportunity to express his views openly if given a chance to speak during the meeting, which will be chaired by President Museveni, the NRM National Chairperson.
According to Brandon Kintu, the spokesperson of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus, the meeting will focus on proposals in the new comprehensive UPDF Amendment Bill.
