Two arrested over Motorist Murder in Rukungiri.
Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri District have arrested two suspects and are searching for others in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old Boda Boda rider, Twebaze Martin, also known as Kagame, a resident of Iterero Cell, Kacence Parish, Nyakishenyi sub-county, Rukungiri District.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Byomugabe Chrisostom and Asiimwe Amon.
Twebaze was also robbed of his motorcycle Bajaj Boxer with the registration number UGE 705U.
His disappearance caused fear and anger among the residents of Nyakishenyi, leading them to launch an online fundraising campaign to gather funds to assist in locating him.
Kagame’s motorcycle was later recovered in Kisoro District. His relatives promptly reported his disappearance to the police, who then opened an inquiry into the case.
Following a search organized by the residents of Nyakishenyi sub-county, Kagame’s decomposing body was discovered on Tuesday August 13, 2024 in Echuya Forest Reserve in Muko sub-county, Rubanda District.
He had been missing since July 30, 2024, after being hired by two individuals to take them to Kisoro Town from Iterero Trading Centre.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson confirmed the arrest of the duo and further revealed that the search for other accomplices who are in the run is underway.
