Thousands Turn Up for Way of the Cross in Rukungiri on Good Friday

Rukungiri: Thousands of Christians gathered at Christ the King Catholic Parish Church in Eastern Division, Rukungiri Municipality, to take part in the Way of the Cross as part of Good Friday commemorations.

The procession on April 18, which retraced the final journey of Jesus to Calvary, began at Christ the King Church and passed through Bwoma Trading Centre, Omukakabanda, Karegyesa Road, Kinyasano Road, Omukihindi Road, and Godown Road, before returning to the church.

The Assistant Parish Priest at the same church Rev. Fr Henry Barekye, urged Christians to uphold values of peace, love, unity, and mutual support.

“This is the time to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Let us help one another and remain united,” Father Barekye said.

Father Barekye further encouraged believers to remain hopeful amid life’s challenges and to trust in God’s will and divine plan for their lives. He said this was the only way to live for God’s glory on earth and attain eternal life in heaven.
