St. John’s Kanyanga C.O.U Marks 100 Years of Gospel Ministry with Colorful Celebration
Rukungiri: St. John’s Kanyanga Church of Uganda (C.O.U) under Kakinga Archdeaconry located in Kebisoni Sub County on Sunday August 24, celebrated 100 years of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The centenary thanksgiving service brought together hundreds of Christians, clergy, and guests from across the region to reflect on the church’s journey and envision its future.
The event was presided over by the Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, who praised the church for its century of unwavering faith and service. He urged Christians to prioritize children’s education and embrace coffee growing as a reliable path to economic transformation and poverty alleviation.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, emphasized that good works without salvation cannot lead anyone to heaven and urged people to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
The Guest of Honor, the Minister of Education and Sports and First Lady of Uganda Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, delivered her message through Professor Mondo Kagonyera. She commended Bishop Asiimwe’s leadership, particularly his efforts in reviving traditional schools like Makobore High School and Kinyasano Girls High School, and in mobilizing Christians to embrace coffee farming as a means of improving household incomes.
