
Security Guard Remanded Over Fatal Shooting of Herdsman in Rukiga District
Kabale: The suspect arrested in connection with the alleged murder by shooting of Nabimanya Kendrick, a 22-year-old herdsman, on April 15, appeared before the Chief Magistrate of Kabale His Worship Byamugisha Derrick, and has been remanded until May 5, 2025.
The incident occurred on April 5, 2025 at around 9:30 PM at Kigara B Cell, Kigara Parish, Kamwezi Sub-county, Rukiga District. It is alleged that the deceased, Kendrick Nabimanya, and his fellow herdsman identified as Alias Owamahoro, were at a farm along the Muhanga–Kamwezi road, looking after cattle.
According to the Kigezi regional spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, It is reported that the suspect, identified as Silas Musinguzi, a security guard attached to Safe Tech Security Company, appeared at the scene armed with a gun and in the company of a woman, heading toward the Muhanga side. After the suspect bypassed the two herdsmen, the deceased allegedly decided to follow them in an attempt to identify the woman.
The suspect, reportedly provoked by the deceased’s actions, turned back and shot at him, resulting in his instant death.
The suspect was arrested shortly after the incident. Following continued investigations and the sanctioning of the case file by the Resident State Attorney (RSA), the suspect was presented before the court and subsequently remanded.
