School heads want parents to prioritise their children’s education
Rukungiri: School headteachers in Rukungiri Municipality have encouraged Parents to prioritise educating their children
The school heads made the appeal while interructing to our reporter who paid impromptu visits to different schools with the aim of assessing the trend of events on the first day of third term schools’ re-opening.
According to the Ministry of Education and sports schools’ calendar for this academic year, the official date for opening of schools was today Monday the 18th September 2023.
At Star parents kindergarten primary school found in Kifujo ward Eastern division, the headteacher Mr. Gideon Principal told our reporter that majority of pupils have reported on the first day of the term. He however said that the many pupils didn’t come to school with tution like it has been in the past, attributing it to the current economic hardships.
He also advised parents to have financial plans that will help them to educate their children without constraints.

The deputy headteacher of St Gerralds secondary school Nyakibale Mr. Timothy Twinomugisha Muntu said that the number of students who have reported today is high compared to last term.
He said that this being a promotional term, students are compelled to report in time for the most serious class business.

Our reporter also visited Nyakibale upper boarding primary school where the headteacher Mr. Bruno Mugisha confirmed a huge low of pupils turn up compared to the previous terms. He encouraged parents to send their children to school in time.

Similarly, Robert Agaba Mugabe, the headteacher of Rukungiri high school told our reporter that the number of students who reported today was low compared to last term.
