Rwandan National dies in a ugandan bus
A 21-year-old Rwandan national, James Tuyizere, died on Monday while traveling in a Horizon bus from Kampala to Kisoro. The incident occurred when the bus reached Ntungamo, and Tuyizere began vomiting.
Despite being moved to the back seat, he passed away as the journey continued towards Kabale town. Hamis Magomu, a passenger, reported that Tuyizere appeared frail at the start of the journey, and his condition worsened during the trip.
The bus conductors, witnessing his deteriorating state, moved him to the back seat, and he eventually passed away as they approached Kabale town. The bus driver promptly reported the incident to Kabale police station.
Hakim Mukama, the officer-in-charge of the Criminal Investigations Department in the Kigezi region led the police in removing Tuyizere’s body from the bus. The body was then taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem. The bus, after police investigations and clearance, continued its journey to Kisoro.
This incident echoes a similar occurrence in May 2023 when a Rwandan woman traveling from Kigali to Kampala died in a Trinity Express bus as it reached Mbarara. The circumstances surrounding both deaths remain unclear.
The police have registered the case as an incident of sudden death at Kabale police station under file number SD 19/29/01/2024. Investigations into the cause of Tuyizere’s death are ongoing.
