Rukungiri: Queen of Apostle’s Rwamagaya Catholic Parish, through its Parish Council in Ruhinda Sub-County, Rukungiri District, has awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Security Minister Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi Katugugu for his continued support toward developments in the parish.

The certificate was handed over on November 23, during the Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund (BAAF) ceremony held at the parish. Maj. Gen. Muhwezi, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Rujumbura County, was recognized at the event, which aimed at raising funds to renovate the old Catholic church building into a girls’ dormitory for Bishop Robert’s SS Rwamagaya.

Vanansio Natuhwera Bagatireyo, the Parish Council Chairperson and Deputy RDC for Lyantonde District, outlined the minister’s immense contributions to the parish. These include roofing the church, facilitating the process of taking Rwamagaya Primary School into government management, mobilizing funds for building seven classrooms at the school, securing 150 million shillings from the government for constructing three classrooms at Bishop Roberts SS, supporting the purchase of church land, and contributing toward the acquisition of a vehicle for the parish priest, among others.
