Rwakabengo Residents commend Andrew Kikira for donating them water spring.
Rukungiri: It was a moment of joy and ululations on Thursday May 15, 2025 as residents of Rwakabengo A cell, Rwakabengo ward, Southern division in Rukungiri municipality received a water spring donated by Andrew Ankunda Kikira, the aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri municipality.
In a function presided over by the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Wilberforce Ongom Ahimbisibwe, residents revealed that before the construction of this water spring, they were struggling with dirty water for over 50 years which exposed them to contracting water borne diseases.
Residents including Gertrude Atuheire, Charity Tumusiime, Sarah Habasa and Margret Safari said overtime, they have been fetching dirty water from open wells which were used by animals as drinking spots.
This they say has led to the spreading of waterborne diseases in their cell and consequent poverty since the money that would be used for economic activities is spent on treating diseases.
Residents commended Andrew Ankunda Kikira for fulfilling his promise of constructing a water spring for them to solve the water crisis in their area and pledged to support him in the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the same event, the DRDC Ongom commended Ankunda for using his meager resources to solve community problems saying that such projects supplement the ones put up by the government.
He mentioned Ankunda as a special case revealing that most of the people who are rich in communities have no heart of helping residents.
