Rwabugumi calls for youth engagement in sports.

Rukungiri: The secretary for health at the Rukungiri district council and District councilor for Nyarushanje Sub-county Mathias Mwesigwa Rwabugumi has asked the youth to engage in sports if they are to promote their well-being.

Rwabugumi was speaking at Rwabugumi Bodaboda tournament 2025 match day three games held on Sunday March 9, 2025 at Kasheeshe Playground in Kasheeshe parish, Buyanja sub-county, Rukungiri district.

He revealed that he organized this tournament to motivate motorists on their duty and to encourage them to adopt the saving culture 

Rwabugumi further said some people up to date despise and attach the work of motorists to uneducated and badly behaved individuals.

He said this has caught his attention thus developing an idea to lecture them on financial literacy. 

“Todate people associate the worker of our boda boda riders to the uneducated and indesciplined individuals but this is wrong. Presently, boda boda riding is ruculative and most people including the highly educated are engaging in this job. However, it’s our role as leaders to advise these motorists about financial literacy and thats why I chose to organise such football tournaments”.

The district councilor for Buyanja sub-county Albert Mugisha Rwamugata commended Rwabugumi for leading the cause of soliciting money from the government to upgrade Kasheeshe health centre three during his tenure as district secretary for health.

He asked voters to choose leaders who understand community problems and are ready to offer viable solutions.

Chris Agaba the chairperson of Nyakabungo boda boda zone and Emmanuel Mujungu who is the chairperson for Kasheeshe boda boda stage praised Rwabugumi for his initiatives and teaching them about financial discipline.

In yesterday’s matches, Nyakabungo boda boda riders defeated Buhandagazi boda boda riders with a score of 1-0 while Nyabitete boda boda riders smashed Kasheeshe boda boda riders with a score of 1-0.

Next games will be for groups B and D and these shall be held in Kebisoni and Buyanja sub-counties resipectively.
