Rukungiri woman killed by husband for mistakenly housing another man.

Rukungiri: Police in Rukungiri district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 56 year old woman who was killed by her husband on allegations of infidelity.

The deceased has been identified as Sanyu Dinavence, a resident of Kakanyenye cell in Karuhembe parish, Kebisoni sub-county.

Allegations indicate that the deceased was assaulted by her husband Leo Tumwijukye 59 years on June 13, 2025 at their home in Kakanyenye cell.

It is further alleged that on the fateful day, the suspect found another man in his house, who is said to have accompanied the deceased to her home after buzzing together from a local bar.

Being drunk, the man mistakenly slept off until the husband of Sanyu (deceased) came back home.

The drunkard man was arrested and taken to the police for criminal trespass.

The suspect later turned to his wife whom he badly assaulted, leading to her ultimate demise from Royal Care clinic in Mabanga trading center, where she had been rushed for treatment.

Meanwhile, Rukungiri Police are actively hunting for unknown person(s) who murdered Benson Turyahikayo 42 years, a resident of Rwakiriba Cell in Bugangari sub-county.

He is suspected to have been killed on June 15, 2025 from his house in Rwakiriba cell, at an unknown time.

His body was discovered at around 01:00 PM.

Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Matte confirmed police investigations in both cases and further told our reporter that the hunt for suspects is ongoing.
