Rukungiri RDC Urges Residents to Shun Politics of Identity for Development

Rukungiri: The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukungiri, Baron Kikashemeza, has called on residents to shun politics of identity if they are to realize meaningful development in the district.

Kikashemeza made the remarks on September 9, during an interview with our reporter at his office located at Rukungiri District headquarters.

He noted that development in Uganda continues to be hampered by politics of identity, where many citizens choose leaders based on money, religion, tribe, or other divisive factors rather than focusing on competence and service delivery.

The RDC urged Rukungiri residents to distance themselves from individuals who promote such divisive politics, stressing that they hinder progress and unity.

He further encouraged voters to elect leaders who understand local challenges and community needs, adding that both political and religious leaders should put aside conflicts and instead work together to improve service delivery.
