Rukungiri Police Warns Public on Fireworks, Burning Tyres and Illegal Celebrations

Rukungiri: The Rukungiri District Police Commander (DPC), SSP Brian Ampaire, has cautioned members of the public especially those intending to display fireworks to ensure they have valid licenses permitting them to do so.

Ampaire during an interview with our news reporter on December 30, from his office at Rukungiri main police station located in the municipality, appealed to individuals and event organizers planning to display fireworks to register with police in time. He also warned that burning tyres on roads during end-of-year celebrations is strictly prohibited.

Ampaire further asked those who already have fireworks to take them to Rukungiri Central Police Station so that they can be inspected and safely kept until the celebration time.

Lastly, the DPC warned that anyone who fires fireworks without permission will face the law and urged the public to follow police guidelines to ensure safety and order.
