Rukungiri municipality MP Aspirant Andrew Kikira nominated, promises to solve Rukungiri problems.

Rukungiri: The aspiring Member of Parliament for Rukungiri municipality Andrew Ankunda Kikira has promised to provide tangible solutions to the problems that have persistently irked residents of Rukungiri municipality for a very long time.

Following his nomination on Thursday June 26, 2025 at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) electoral commission offices in Kampala, Ankunda was given a heroic welcome on Friday June 27, 2025 in Rukungiri district.

While addressing a mammoth jubilant crowd at Heritage country club in Rukungiri municipality, Ankunda revealed that residents of Rukungiri municipality have suffered with poor services for a long time and it’s high time to put an end to politics of lies and empty promises.

He said his priorities will be improving health services by lobbying for a district referral hospital, supporting education through establishing a university and fighting poverty by supporting individuals who are united in associations.

Annet Asiimwe Ankunda, a wife to Ankunda rallied voters to support her husband, further promising to support women SACCOs and equipping the youths with different skills that will help them to be self-reliant.

She said they will help residents to add value in their products thereby improving their household incomes.

Electorates including Richard Mashokye, Bruce Tumwesigye, Olivia Niwenshaba and Henry Biryabaho told our reporter that they chose to endorse Kikira for Rukungiri municipality because of his vision and ability to relate with everyone.

They said he has already solved most of the pressing issues in the communities and are optimistic that he will do more once elected as their area Member of Parliament.

It should be remembered that the NRM party parliamentary elections will be held on July 16, 2025 across all the counties and districts in Uganda.
