Rukungiri man faces eleven months in jail over phone theft.
Rukungiri: The Rukungiri district grade one Magistrates court has sentenced Ainebyoona Isaac Alias Buwembo Ibra to eleven (11) months in Rukungiri government prison for stealing a camon 20 Tecno phone.
Ainebyoona is said to have committed the offence while at Virunga home of wines and spirits shop on Republic Road belonging to the Director of Virunga Group of Companies Tweyambe Robert Baguma on 17/8/2023 at 10:24 pm in the night.
CCTV cameras caught him picking the phone from the shop counter sparking his pursuit and subsequent arrest.
On Tuesday 05/9/2023, he appeared before the Rukungiri grade one magistrate court presided over by His worship Gonzaga Mbakangu to have his case determined.
His worship Mbakangu while passing the judgement noted that he decided to hand 11 months sentence to Ainebyoona because he did not waste court’s time.
The Magistrate warned that he had an option of imprisoning Ainebyoona 11 years but chose to hand him eleven months since he didn’t waste court’s time and helped Tweyambe Robert Baguma to recover his phone that he had grabbed and that he didn’t have the record of previous conviction.
